Assignment 5 - 2

Bradburn definitely seemed like a nicer subdivision than its nearby neighborhoods. The houses looked like they were built more recently and the neighborhood just felt as though it was safer, more expensive, and more modern than other nearby subdivisions such as Northglenn. As you can see from the pictures, nearly every house in Bradburn has stairs leading up to the houses’ front porch. Most homes were multi-leveled homes with a lot of windows facing the sunrise. It is typical for Colorado homes to be facing the sunrise so the house will heat up early and so the snow will start melting earlier in the daytime.

Everything about Bradburn screamed community. There were parks, walkways, and a main street with a lot of new developments such as business retail and places to eat. There is a lot of traffic in Bradburn, and the community has tried to reduce vehicular travel by creating a lot of walkways and paths to promote pedestrian activity. The parks are a way for the neighborhood to engage in community activity too. They positioned the homes and apartments in between the parks and main street retail and restaurants so it is easy for the community to access these areas.

Northglenn did not seem nearly as modern and a bit more rundown. The houses weren’t as nice and the neighborhood seemed more individually oriented without parks and open paths to promote pedestrian walking around the neighborhood.
